Mum of Morecambe boy fighting brain cancer doing 500,000 step charity challenge

The mum of a six-year-old boy diagnosed with a brain tumour last year is undertaking a mammoth walking challenge to raise money for a children's cancer charity.

As we reported in September, Stuart Ryder-Muir was diagnosed with a brain tumour last July, after having been suffering with bouts of headaches and sickness following a fall at home.

He began life-saving Proton Beam Therapy at The Christie hospital in Manchester, in a bid to reduce his cancer.

And Stuart is now in remission, and undergoing scans every three months.

His mum Rebecca is now planning to do 500,000 steps throughout March for CLIC Sargent, who help support children and families like Stuart's.

"They were amazing for us," Rebecca, who also has a one-year-old daughter called Eleanor, said.

The charity has launched the 500,000 steps in March Challenge, which is a virtual Facebook challenge.

Rebecca started her walk early due to Stuart being in hospital for scans at the end of March, which the family has to isolate for.
