Over the last 10 years, Joseph A. Jones & Co has helped raise more than £130,000 in gifts from people choosing to leave a legacy to CancerCare in their will.

The company also participates in the CancerCare Will Writing Service, through which they offer the charity’s service users and supporters the chance to make a basic will and invite them to make a donation in lieu of their fees.

CancerCare provides free professional counselling and complementary therapy for people across north Lancashire and south Cumbria and chief executive Alison Stainthorpe said 93 per cent of its work was funded by people who make donations, fundraise or leave a legacy.

“Around a quarter of our work is funded by wonderful people who choose to include a gift in their will to CancerCare,” she said.

“Thanks to Joseph A Jones & Co we have been honoured to receive gifts ranging from £500 right up to £49,000, and every single one has helped to ensure that no one in our community will have to face cancer or bereavement alone. We are incredibly grateful to the team who understand just how important these donations are to us.”

Solicitor and partner Gary Rycroft said: “Making a will is the best way to ensure your wishes are carried out and that your loved ones are provided for in the future.

"Not only is a very kind thing to do, making things easier for your family and friends when the time comes, it also shows you cared about them enough to take the time to put thoughtful arrangements in place. It is literally your ‘legacy’ to those you leave behind.

“We at Joseph A. Jones & Co. are proud to support CancerCare and pleased to be able to provide this important service for the charity’s service users and supporters.”
