Raising a laugh raises much needed funds for St John's Hospice in Lancaster

A star studded comedy event to raise money for St John's Hospice in Lancaster raised nearly £3,000.

Comedian Jon Richardson supported the hospice with several of his comedic friends at the event called '“No Audience with Jon Richardson and friends”.

The event was presented by United we Stream for the benefit of five charitable organisations including St John’s Hospice.

The 114,000 viewers were encouraged to give further via social media and by SMS giving through verbal and on screen calls to action throughout the two hour long performance.

The audience generated £2919.00 through text donations on the night with further text donations generated post event.

Director of income generation at St John's Hospice, Catherine Butterworth said: "Our supporters and community are very generous, they have shown this prior to Covid-19 and continue to do so.

"About a third of our funding comes for the local NHS, with the remaining two-thirds of our funding raised by our amazing community. We wouldn’t be here without them."
