Four new coronavirus deaths recorded at Morecambe Bay hospitals

Four more deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded across hospitals in Morecambe Bay.

Two deaths were recorded by NHS England on September 24, and a further two on September 27.

Previously, there had been no new deaths from Covid-19 at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust since August 18, one of only two deaths recorded in August.

The total number of people who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 now stands at 175 at hospitals across Morecambe Bay - which includes the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital in Barrow.

The figures do not include deaths within the community or in nursing homes.

As of Monday September 28, there have now been 11,859 confirmed cases in the Lancashire County Council area, according to Public Health England figures.In Lancaster, there have been 1,082 (up from 1,065).

As of August 20, 404 people had been discharged from Morecambe Bay hospitals having recovered from Covid-19.
