Did the national lockdown work? This is how coronavirus infection rates have fallen in Lancashire and where it was most effective

After almost three weeks of the second national lockdown, the rate of new Covid-19 cases in Lancashire has fallen significantly.

Since November 5, when the new national restrictions forced yet more businesses to close and put a stop to almost all social mixing between households, all but one of Lancashire' s 14 boroughs have seen infection rates fall - several by more than a third.

It can take a few days for new measures to be reflected in the figures released daily by Public Health England and the infection rate was already falling when the lockdown came into force.

But the drop became steeper within 10 days of the tighter restrictions - suggesting the efforts of residents to tackle the spread of coronavirus have made an impact.

See how the infection rate - measured as the number of new cases over a seven-day period per 100,000 people - changed in each area of Lancashire below.
