Gareth’s epic stroll was fuelled by Kendal Mint Cake and the encouragement of well-wishers who joined him at various stages along the way.

CancerCare fundraiser Helen Hartin said: “To take on a walk from Blackpool to Morecambe with no training, in his amazing POW suit in very warm weather, was no easy task but he persevered through pain and blisters to complete the challenge.

"I was moved by the local support he received in the Morecambe and surrounding area. The messages of encouragement on his Facebook posts were incredible and to raise over £1,400 in just four days was staggering. Thank you Gareth and everyone who donated.”
