Lancaster University Chaplaincy Centre is inviting people, in response to the coronavirus and the directive to stay at home, to take part in the virtual event on Tuesday, March 31 at 5.15pm.

Rev Kara Cooper, the University’s Spiritual Care Co-ordinator said: “These are scary and unprecedented times, but we humans are extraordinary and resilient and beautiful, and community is necessary now more than ever.

People are stepping up to care for others in amazing ways and maybe we need to remind ourselves that there is always hope.

“So, despite the lock-down, despite the isolation, despite the scariness...we'll gather virtually from wherever we are to share words of hope and encouragement.

“This is a time of community, a time of encouragement, and most of all, a time of remembering that we are not alone in this.”

If you would like to join in, you are invited to bring a candle and a match (if it is safe and legal to light a candle in your accommodation), as during the ‘gathering’ the candles will be lit as a symbol of hope in these challenging times.
