Schoolchildren become superheroes to raise money for their Carnforth school

Schoolchildren made a superhuman effort to raise money for new IT equipment at their Warton school.

Headtacher at Archbishop Hutton’s VC Primary School in Warton, Stuart Pugh said: "We recently had a sponsored event to raise money for new IT equipment in school.

"During the summer term we had a new running track laid down. Most of the children were off school, due to the lockdown so had not been able to use the track.

"To launch the track we decided to have a sponsored run and run the distance to Derby, where the track company are based.

"The children dressed as superheroes and each bubble ran a different distance, dependent on their age.

"With just 102 children on role they managed to run over 220 miles and raised £1620 which is awesome.

"We are raising money for new screens in our classrooms, new ipads and new laptops.

"Because we are a small school we have had to raise money over the last three years to replace our computer suite and server.

"The PTA have been very active and the children and parents have responded really well.

"We have also had help from local businesses and the Parish Council and the WI along the way. In total we have raised over £18,000 - which is amazing for a school of 100 pupils."
