We want to help them bounce back and, through our Apprenticeship & Traineeship provision, we can offer a huge range of vocational & technical opportunities, to adults and young people alike.

Apprenticeships are the perfect opportunity for those who want to broaden their industry knowledge, skills and behaviours while earning a salary and building professional connections. They are available to anyone over 16, meaning they are a great first step to into employment, as well as offering upskilling to adults already within an industry, or who wish to retrain in a different sector.

In 2020, our Apprenticeship provision was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and we ranked in the Top 20 FE Colleges for Apprenticeship achievement, with our Engineering & Construction Apprenticeships being placed 6th & 9th respectively.

96% of Apprenticeships leading to permanent job offers – demonstrating that Apprenticeships are a great way to reach the needs and expectations of employers.

We work with over 700 employers in the local area, covering a wide range of employment sectors including Marketing, Accounting, Health & Social Care, Engineering and Catering.

Apprenticeships range from Levels 2-5 meaning that no matter your industry background there are development opportunities available to you. If you are unsure of which route you would like to follow, we offer a job matching service to support you find the role to meet your needs.

Traineeships allow you to gain real work experience and develop crucial job skills before you progress on to an Apprenticeship. This gives you the opportunity to find out if the job and employer are the right choice for you, before you commit to a paid role.

Our Skills Development Academy offers sessions which challenge and support our apprentices to develop new, transferable skills, including: Influencing & Negotiating, Equality & Diversity, Social Media Marketing and Communication Skills. This means that you are given the opportunity to fill gaps in your knowledge, ensuring you are confident in key skills used across all industry sectors.

We support our Apprentices to take part in additional opportunities, including Plumbing & Welding students attending work experience placements in Denmark.

As lockdown eases and businesses are starting to look ahead to a brighter future, we have seen an increase in apprenticeship vacancies locally, which means there are even more opportunities available. You don’t have to wait until September – you can start an apprenticeship or traineeship at any time of year – we have vacancies available NOW!

For businesses looking to recruit staff, additional financial incentives have been announced to support employers, allowing them to claim up to £3,000 for apprentices who start work after 1st April.
