Shaun Gash, from Lancaster, has set up a fundraising page online for people to donate to the cause.

He hopes to gain as much publicity as possible, and has even written to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for support through the donation of tablets.

Shaun said: "With the situation in the UK on lockdown and schools closed with home learning in place, this has put enormous pressure on schools to provide laptops/tablets for their pupils to continue on their learning pathway.

"It’s important that education is still available for all children and young people through technology so they can access on line resources, but schools have limited numbers of laptops to loan out to each pupil, and limited funds to purchase more and government allocation has been cut to save stock!

"I’m on a mission to support schools and children and young persons education by trying to raise as much funds as possible to buy more equipment.

"I am aware that there are organisations etc taking second hand donations of devices which is fantastic, but I’m also aware some people just want to donate monies to help.

"That’s why I’ve set up the go fund page to raise as much as possible to help as many as possible.

"I've sent emails out to Jeff Bezos to see if he could help donate Amazon Fireball 8 devices for primary schools as these are suitable and cheaper devices for the platforms used in primary.

"I’ve had show of support over Twitter and Facebook and Linkedin, with Hollister Incorporated contacting me to make a donation.

"It's a tall order I know but together we are strong and together we can make a difference - whatever we can do is a positive step!

"If everyone donated £2 we could raise millions and even provide each school with some equipment!"

A local community group is also collecting unused laptops and tablets - more details on how you can help are here.
