Heysham primary school closes over 'potential' coronavirus case

A primary school in Heysham has temporarily closed after a 'potential' case of coronavirus was identified.

St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Littledale Avenue is closed today, Friday October 16, after it was revealed there had been a potential case of Covid-19 within the 'school community'.

The announcement was made by headteacher Carol Hind as a 'precautionary measure' on social media on Thursday evening.

She said: "It is with great regret that I am informing you that there has been a possible case of coronavirus within the school community.

"At this point, we are awaiting confirmation and advice from Public Health England.

"We are therefore going to close school tomorrow as a precautionary measure whilst we seek confirmation and will be in touch tomorrow with further advice."

"We would like to reassure you that this closure at this point is a precautionary measure. Further information, guidance and advice on re-opening of class bubbles will be confirmed tomorrow."
