Headmaster Mark Turnbull said: "Our specialist staff from across departments, including sport, drama and music, will be available to speak with visitors - just like they would be on a conventional open day.

"Everyone's lives have been turned upside down in recent weeks and education has had to adapt fast. However this should not stop any of us from thinking about future ambitions and the virtual open day is a great way to hear in more detail what the opportunities are for anyone wishing to come to Giggleswick."

During the crisis, day to day learning has also gone online. Giggleswick's virtual school features a full timetable of live lessons available online underpinned by all the normal pastoral and enrichment opportunities.

Thanks to the ingenuity of teachers, a daily hour of co-curriculum activities has been preserved. Exercise opportunities range from fitness sessions to hockey skills which can be done in the living room. Pupils might choose a singing lesson in the garden, hone their climbing theory techniques or join in a virtual chapel service or mindfulness session.

Throughout lockdown, the school has also provided its pupils, staff and friends with daily health and happiness support through its Gigg Wellbeing facility, available on its social media channels. It includes breathing and mindfulness techniques, challenges such as making a healthy smoothie or sport plus #FeelgoodFriday clips.
