Caring students shortlisted

A Lancaster nurse has been shortlisted in the prestigious Student Nursing Times Awards.

Holly Phillips, 27, been shortlisted in the Learning Disabilities Student Nurse of the Year category.

She is chairman of her university Student Quality Ambassadors group and is also a peer mentor for both learning disability nursing students and international students entering their first year at university.

She said: “I am very proud of my achievements and extremely grateful for all the support and encouragement I have received.

“It is a privilege to be standing next to so many fabulous and inspirational finalists.

“I hope each of our achievements will go on to inspire others to take on their own challenges in their studies.”

Holly is one of three 
students at the University of Cumbria shortlisted in the Awards, from a record-breaking list of more than 450 
entries.

Midwifery student Kerry Cooper, 39, is in the running for the Student Midwife of the Year award and Heather Maw, 43, was shortlisted from ‘unprecedented numbers’ of entries in the same category as Holly.
