They are also a proven route into Higher Education, with Advanced Apprenticeships providing the necessary UCAS points and are a viable alternative to university, offering you the opportunity to study at degree level, while working full-time.

Apprentices immediately enter the workforce meaning you can make a head-start in the job market and, instead of paying tuition fees, you will earn whilst you are learning.

An Apprenticeship allows you to take a hands-on approach to learning, putting your knowledge into practice and building up confidence within your chosen subject or sector. This allows you to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary in the industry.

You will work alongside employees who can share their industry experiences. This close contact is beneficial for mentorship and networking for future opportunities. They are a great way to your careers, or can be used as an opportunity to learn more about a specific subject, helping determine whether you would like to commit to studying at degree level.

Marketing Assistant apprentice, Shannon Harrison, feels that hands-on work experience gives her a greater insight into the sector providing her with the tools needed to progress in the industry.

“I think an Apprenticeship is the perfect way to build your industry confidence. I am surrounded by others who work in the marketing industry, meaning there is always someone to learn from and I can practice my skills every day, ensuring I understand both the theoretical and practical sides of marketing. This Apprenticeship is helping me learn so much and I’m slowly discovering which specific industry role I would like to work towards in the future.”
