People are golden for resort company

A 60-year-old firm from Morecambe has has been awarded the Gold standard by Investors in People (IIP) recognising best practice in people management.

Cannon Hygiene on the White Lund estate has been recognised with an award only given to those businesses that are able to meet an additional 126 requirements on top of the 39 core IIP objectives, after IIP spoke to workers.

Howard Sedgwick, MD of Cannon Hygiene UK, said: “Securing the Gold award acknowledges our commitment to continually investing in our people. This is definitely their achievement.”

Cannon Hygiene provides hygiene solutions to many household names across the length and breadth of the UK.

The firm was established in 1955 by husband and wife team, Stanley and Alys Kennon.

Cannon Hygiene today employs 700 people in the UK alone where it operates 18 customer service centres, with a fleet of over 400 vehicles. It was acquired by the OCS Group in 1983 but remains a family business – now in its fifth generation.
