Three picturesque Lancashire towns have been named among the best places to live in the North West.

Arnside, Kirby Lonsdale and Waddington are in the top ten locations from across the region.

A total of 101 UK towns and villages make up the comprehensive Sunday Times guide, with the winner revealed tomorrow.

Judges assessed a variety of different factors, including schools, transport, broadband speed, culture, green spaces and the health of the high street, when formulating the guide. They also visited all of the places listed.

The guide also uses robust and exclusive statistics, including up-to-date house prices, provided by mortgage company Habito and TwentyCi.

Helen Davies, The Sunday Times Home editor said, “Our advice is simple. Think about everything you love and everything you hate, then make sure you have access to the good things while minimising exposure to the bad ones.

“And we’re here to help. Today we champion 101 locations across the UK and crown one lucky winner.

Other places on the guide include Levenshulme in Manchester and Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter.
