The team at Banks Lyon Jewellers wants to play a part in boosting morale during such a difficult time by offering a 15 per cent discount on engagement rings.

While the firm’s Lancaster and Kendal stores are temporarily closed, the business is very much open and customers can access the same high quality and personal service for which it’s renowned via the website, www.bankslyon.co.uk.

Marketing director Maxine Banks-Lyon said they hoped the 15 per cent discount, which includes diamond rings, would help anyone who was already planning a proposal, perhaps during a summer holiday or special occasion that had now been cancelled or postponed.

She said that several customers who were due to pop the question later in the year had decided they didn’t want to wait and had already taken advantage of the offer.

She said: “I know that a couple of customers ended up just going for a dog walk and proposing then or popped the question at home. In many ways, there’s never been a better time to show someone that you love them and we want to be part of that.”

Maxine added that an engagement always lifts spirits among family and friends.

“We wanted to do something to help but in all honesty, short of continuing to support local charities, there aren’t many practical things we can do. This is something that we hope will brighten up customers’ lives during these dark times.”

The 15 per cent discount applies to any new diamond or coloured stone engagement rings. It’s the first time in the firm’s 36-year history that it has offered a discount on its diamond rings, which it believes are always extremely competitively priced.

Banks Lyon personal shoppers are on hand to respond to telephone or email enquiries from customers old and new in the same friendly and welcoming manner as in the stores.

Maxine, her husband, retail director Alexander Pecko and her parents, business founders Rodney and Jasmin Banks-Lyon, believe extending kindness is even more important at the moment.
