The BID (Business Improvement District) team dropped into Simply Baby in the city centre to surprise one lucky customer and offer them a choice of two boxes to open.

Both boxes contained a prize to spend in store, but only one had the £500 jackpot.

The lucky customer was Rebecca from Lancaster, who was ordering equipment in preparation for her third baby, due in just seven weeks’ time.

After a tense pause, Rebecca chose a box to open and was delighted to reveal the jackpot prize.

The £500 prize really made her day and will be a real help towards the costs of a new baby.

The Love Lancaster Lottery launched this week to coincide with the reopening of many shops around the district after the easing of lockdown restrictions on Monday.

Lancaster BID manager Tony Johnson said: “We were delighted to have such a worthy winner to launch our Love Lancaster Lottery.

"The campaign is all about encouraging visitors back into the city centre and rewarding loyal customers of local businesses.”

The Love Lancaster Lottery will continue with the BID team dropping into a different city centre business each week. With guaranteed prizes of between £20 and £500 every time it

is well worth winning.

To maximise your chance of winning make sure you make frequent visits to Lancaster city centre to support all the local businesses.
