Alisha Hazelwood, Bryce Ainsworth, Mark Chinyamunyamu, Daniel Hampshire, Sam Worsnop, and Stanislaw Nowaczyk, all first-year Management and Information Technology (MIT) Undergraduates, shone at the Tech Industry Gold Autumn First Year Challenge, with Tech Partnership Degrees.

Teams were required to present a tech concept to a panel of employers from the tech industry. The focus was on important current challenges, such as digital exclusion, changing workplaces, and online learning in the times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Lancaster team claimed second place overall, as well as individual accolades, for their ‘EduEverything’ concept, a platform aimed at improving online learning. Mark Chinyamunyamu and Daniel O’Neill won individual prizes for their contribution and performance during the challenge.

MIT Programme Director Dr Lucia Cervi said: “I’m delighted with the way the Lancaster team came together to produce such an innovative and creative concept, and one that obviously caught the eye of the judges. This year has been a most unusual one for students, but the EduEverything team have shown the kind of adaptability and creativity that we have all needed to survive and thrive, and have demonstrated the skills and knowledge we are passing on in Lancaster University Management School.”

The Tech Industry Gold Autumn First Year Challenge is organised by the Lancaster MIT programme’s accrediting organisation, Tech Partnership Degrees. As well as challenging them to produce a competition-winning connect, it also successfully connects students to relevant alumni and employers in the management and technology field.

LUMS’s MIT degree programme, based in the department of Organisation, Work and Technology, is one of the few Information, Technology, Management and Business (ITMB) degrees in the UK accredited by Tech Partnership Degrees. Students enrolled in the programme have numerous opportunities to connect with employers, alumni and experts, and – importantly – have access to both placement and employment opportunities in the field of management and IT. MIT alumni have started their careers with employers such as Google, O2, IBM, HP, BBC, and Morgan Stanley to name a few.
