Although families and friends of the home were unable to attend due to Covid-19 restrictions, staff felt that the least they could for the residents after such a tough year was to throw a big party to celebrate the success of Laurel Bank over the past six months.

Laurel Bank hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a seaside sing-along, a Punch & Judy Show, beach picnic food including candy floss and ice cream, and a free promise raffle for all of the residents.

The larger prizes involved promises from the different departments and staff members, including afternoon tea with the manager Lyndsay Scott, a pampering afternoon with the activity department and a full spring clean from the housekeepers.

Residents enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as a traditional buffet including quiche, scotch eggs, sandwiches and sausage rolls which were all prepared by hand by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all.

There was also plenty of Pimms with fresh fruit and lemonade to give the event a real summer feel!

Resident Christine said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing. The weather held out until we finished. Staff did a great job, not just on the day, but organising the event and getting everyone together. It’s been a wonderful day, especially after such a tough year!”
