Sam Hayhurst is now continuing to serve, instead assisting the local elderly population with his specialist at-home care services, keeping seniors safe in the comfort of their own homes throughout a difficult and uncertain period.

With their offices based in Lancaster, Home Instead will provide home care services across the county, including Morecambe, Bentham and Preesall, all the way down to Garstang and the surrounding areas.

Sam and his team are now looking for up to 50 caring individuals from throughout Lancaster, Morecambe and the neighbouring areas of north Lancashire to become caregivers.

Caregivers don’t have to have a background in care, but kind-hearted and nurturing individuals could thrive in the companionship-led role.

Prior to his new venture, Sam worked as a weapons engineer in the Royal Navy for five years. Alongside his main role, he also worked as part of the firefighting team, helping to keep his crewmates safe from any potential dangers or harm.

Sam said: “Some of my proudest and most enjoyable moments have been serving and helping others, delivering something for someone else.

"Working in the military gives you the ethics and values to do just that. Before serving in the Royal Navy, I worked in a business environment for a number of years where I decided I wanted to run my own business one day.

"Opening Home Instead will allow me to run my own business while simultaneously giving back to my local community and helping others.

“Working in the Navy made me develop a huge respect for my team and who I was surrounded by. I’m excited to build my own team of caring individuals and work closely alongside them to help seniors throughout the area maintain their independence and stay safe in their own homes.”

Home Instead specialises in companionship-led care services for the elderly population, which can be easily personalised and tailored to the individual. With services ranging from home help and companionship, the company ensures a minimum visit time of one hour from the same caregiver, meaning seniors receive quality care and companionship from familiar faces.
