First homes released for sale at landmark redevelopment in Morecambe

The transformation of Morecambe’s former Park Hotel has reached a major milestone, with the first three apartments at the new Park Residences development now being released for sale.

The prominent Victorian building, which has stood on Regent Road for more than a century, is being comprehensively restored and converted into a collection of 14 individual apartments.

The first release comprises Apartments 9, 10 and 12, with prices starting from £210,000.

The redevelopment has focused on retaining the character and architectural presence of the former hotel while creating modern homes designed for contemporary living.

Developer Alexander Matthews Stays Limited has undertaken an extensive programme of restoration and construction works across the building, including major roof works, new windows, structural improvements, upgraded fire protection and the introduction of modern energy and security systems.

Managing director Alex Potocki said: “Reaching the point where we can release the first apartments for sale is a significant milestone for the project.

“The Park Hotel has been part of Morecambe’s streetscape for generations and from the outset we wanted to do much more than simply divide an old building into flats.

“A huge amount of work has gone into restoring the building properly, retaining its character and creating homes that feel individual, spacious and appropriate for such an important property.

“We are particularly pleased that people can now begin to see the quality of the finished apartments rather than simply looking at plans and CGI images.”

The completed development will also include a passenger lift, residents’ gym, landscaped communal areas, secure access, CCTV, cycle storage and managed high speed broadband.

Parking will be available separately, including a number of spaces with EV charging, while selected apartments will also have the opportunity to participate in the development’s solar energy system.

Alex added: “There is a lot happening in Morecambe at the moment and we believe there is an opportunity to provide something slightly different in the local apartment market.

“These are not small, standardised new-build flats. The scale of the original building has allowed us to create generous homes with high ceilings, interesting layouts and a real sense of character.

“We hope Park Residences can demonstrate how one of Morecambe’s historic buildings can be given a viable long-term future while still respecting what made it special in the first place.”

The first apartments form part of the Bay Collection, with further homes at Park Residences due to be released in stages as construction progresses.
