A young actor from Lancaster has joined the West End cast of Mamma Mia!
Rosanna Bates, 22, has been playing the role of Ali in Judy Cramer’s smash hit musical and romantic comedy that is currently playing out in London theatres.
Rosanna graduated from The Arts Educational School in London in 2013, after treading the boards in the Lancaster and Morecambe area since she was very young.
The former Our Lady’s Catholic College and Lancaster Girls Grammar School pupil said: “From a very young age I attended the dance school Lancaster And Morecambe Amateur Theatre Arts (LAMATA) ran by Aviene Grey in Morecambe, but I also joined in local amateur dramatic groups performing at the Grand in Lancaster.
“I was also a member of Ludus Youth Dance Company and I have always just enjoyed performing.
“The best thing about performing in this show is seeing audiences of all ages night after night up on their feet singing, dancing and smiling at the end.
“It’s infectious enjoyment.”
Rosanna now lives in south east London, and has most recently understudied the role of Fantine in Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre.
Other credits include the title role in Cinderella at the Lighthouse Theatre in Poole, The Olivier Awards 2011 and 201 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and Royal Opera House and Friday Night is Music Night on BBC Radio 2.
