LANCASTER has been chosen as one of 30 cities in the UK to hold an Oxjam Takeover, with venues across the city playing host to local bands to raise money for the Oxfam charity.
The festival weekend takes place on October 22-23, with venues yet to be decided, and is being organised by Heather Mack, deputy manager at Oxfam in Penny Street.
Heather, 22, organised an Oxjam event at Lancaster University last year, raising £700, and now hopes to put on an even bigger session this year.
“We’re really lucky to be able to hold this event here in Lancaster, and we’re looking to put about 16 bands on over the weekend,” she said.
“Fund-raising events will be held over the summer in preparation for the music festival in October.
“These events are organised by people who know and love their local music scene and all in aid of Oxfam.
“Any bands interested in getting involved should get in touch.”
