For its final concert this season, the Promenade Concert Orchestra is presenting another ‘Music from the Shows’ programme.

Singing with the orchestra on May 22 are two young professional soloists, suprano Alexandra Lowe and tenor Alexander Grainger, who are both post-graduate students at the Royal Northern College of Music and recipients of the Andrew Lloyd-Webber Sarah Brightman Scholarship for Singing.

As well as singing popular solos and duets, such as, ‘Be My Love’ and ‘Deep in My Heart’ from ‘Student Prince’, ‘Think of Me’ and ‘All I Ask of You’ from ‘Phantom of The Opera’ and ‘Maria’ and ‘One hand, One Heart’ from ‘West Side Story’, they will join with the PCO in the selections from ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘My Fair Lady.’

The concert begins at 3pm at the Platform, in Morecambe, with Sullivan’s overture to the ‘Yeomen of the Guard’, and also performs selections from Loewe’s’Gigi, Romberg’s ‘New Moon’ and Noel Coward’s ‘This Year of Grace.’

Since its formation nine years ago, by its conductor Howard Rogerson, the PCO has given 36 concerts at the Platform to more than 10,000 people and performed 500 pieces of light music.

The PCO is grateful to all its supporters, sponsors, advertisers, Morecambe Town Council Festival Grants and two Lancashire County Councillors Local Members Grants for making it possible to present these concerts.

Tickets for their next event cost £15, £13 (concessions) and £7 (child).

These are available from the Platform Box Office, Central Promenade, 01524 582803 or from www.lancaster.go.uk/platform.
