IRISH outfit Villagers, who wowed Lancaster Library last October, play Preston’s 53 Degrees on Wednesday May 9.
Villagers began life as a nameless collection of musical poems, all under the pen of frontman and multi-instrumentalist Conor J O’Brien.
The band’s debut album Becoming a Jackal was released last year and was shortlisted for both the Mercury Prize and the Choice Music Prize.
Mercury judges described it as “a record of great charm and mystery”.
Over the course of 11 varied, subtle, complex and plain gorgeous songs, the Dubliner shows what all the fuss is about, while defying any easy categorisation of his influences or peers.
