THE John O’ Gaunt welcomes the lead guitarist from 80s alternative rock band The Alarm, tomorrow night, Friday.

Dave Sharp performs a solo show at the Market Street pub, showcasing tracks from his new Roots album and songs previously released on his debut album Hard Travellin’ and USA released Downtown America.

The Alarm, influenced by Welsh language and culture, started as a mod band and stayed together for over 10 years, opening for acts such as U2 and Bob Dylan.

They sold five million albums and singles worldwide and had 15 top 50 UK singles.

The show starts at 9pm and support comes from the Dead Puppeteers.

Organisers of the Rough Beats Festival, which took place at Crina Bottom Farm in Clapham last weekend, have hailed this year’s event a huge success.

Michael McSherry, of the now infamous McSherry brothers from Clapham, who organise the festival, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better response to this year’s event.

“The artists and the audience really rose to the occasion and delivered again and again.
