LEIGHTON Hall doubles for Manderley in Lancaster Footlights version of the Daphne du Maurier classic, Rebecca, which opens at the Grand Theatre on April 12.

The beautiful historic house near Carnforth has inspired the set design, been the perfect backdrop for publicity shots, and even the lady of the house has revealed Rebecca is her favourite novel.

Suzie Reynolds said: “I began reading Daphne du Maurier when I was a girl and have always loved Rebecca. It has all the elements of a wonderful story – it’s exciting and romantic – and most people know its opening line ‘Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.”

So when Lancaster Footlights asked Suzie for permission for a photoshoot at Leighton Hall, she was more than happy to oblige.

“I feel very strongly that Leighton Hall is at the centre of the community so we are happy to help groups like the Footlights and when it’s to publicise something like Rebecca that’s very dear to me, it’s even more special,” said Suzie who’s a great fan of the Grand.”
