Settle Stories Festival attracts largest audience

This year's Settle Stories Festival attracted its largest audience ever with a record breaking number of sell out events.

Awarding-winning comedy, TV stars and classic tales brought to life were just some of the 50 plus events which greeted adults and families.

Visitors were treated to discussions by global thinkers and children interacted with classic tales such as Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood. The acclaimed poet John Hegley also held an evening of poetry and stories at the festival.

Director and founder of Settle Stories, Sita Brand said: “It was more diverse than ever before. As ever it’s been hard work organising it all but the results make it all worth while.”

There is plenty more to do in Settle next month if you missed out on the festival. The Introduction to the W.R.M Archive will take place on Wednesday May 11 at 11am at Settle Library.

The archives comprise interviews and pictures collected by journalist and author Bill Mitchell over many decades. On Friday May 13 there is a special retreat taking place at Airton Friends Meeting house.

The Path to Creativity is a meditation and mindfulness retreat for adults, this creative workshop will be held from 6pm-8.30pm (registration 5.30pm), Saturday May 14, 10am-5pm, Sunday May 15, 10am-5pm. Visit www.settlestories.org.uk/retreat-may-16.
