A record 11,000 people tucked into the culinary delights of Lancaster’s third Food and Drink Festival.
Sixty five traders selling everything from wood fired pizzas to sticky toffee puddings made the Lancaster Leisure Park event. on Sunday and Monday, the biggest yet.
But it was a close call for one of the traders. After setting out its stall at 7.30am, the paella company realised there was one vital ingredient missing – the rice!
The Sandbach firm had to arrange for friends to bring the rice from Cheshire and meet them at a motorway junction near Preston. But it was all worth it when the paella was cooked in time for lunch.
Allan Blackburn, leisure park owner who ran the event with Lancaster Brewery and Country Style Meats Farm Shop, said: “It was a wonderful event, we couldn’t believe how many people came over the two days, especially as the weather wasn’t particularly great.”
Booths sponsored the festival and laid on a cheese and wine stall inside the brewery.
