North Lancs Soul Festival this weekend

Making his debut playing at the North Lancs Soul Festival will be Essex born music producer, re-mixer and broadcaster James JJ Williams.

Already a regular event in the Morecambe music calendar, this year’s annual North Lancs Soul Festival weekend in May will be its 10th this year.

Featuring more than 40 specialist soul music DJs from all over the UK, this weekend event starts on Friday (May 20) and runs through until Sunday (May 22).

James’ music mixing skills will be demonstrated during a session dedicated to ‘Soulful Dance Floor Fillers’ on Saturday night.

Local soul brothers Derek and Gary Willis aka The MVP’s (Morecambe Vinyl Players) are also making their debut at ‘Coming Home Baby’ - a Motown and Northern Soul night taking place at the Morecambe Winter Gardens on Saturday. They will be supporting the Seaside Soul Club plus guests from 8pm-2am.

The festival kicks off on Friday at Smokey O’Connor’s, Morecambe Street, from 2pm. Admission is free up until 6pm.

Sunday will feature a fond farewell to Sean O’Conner, one of the co-founders of the festival, who died last year. The finale will be at the Rotunda Bar and Terrace, at The Midland Hotel. A farewell Sunday session will then take place from 6pm-8pm at The Boardwalk, Morecambe. Saturday night tickets are £8. All tickets visit www.northlancssoulfestival.co.uk.
