Joanne Harris, renowned author of Chocolat and patron of The FIG Tree in Garstang, recently visited Garstang’s International Fair Trade Centre and Cafe for a full day of signing books, meeting people and talking about her writing life.

The visit coincided with Garstang’s 14th anniversary since the historic public declaration that made Garstang the world’s first Fair Trade Town.

Joanne spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire and was then kept busy signing her books, Chocolat, The Gospel of Loki and The Little Book of Chocolat.

After lunch in the café with FIG Tree director Bruce Crowther, Garstang’s mayor and the three winners of the writing competition Joanne had judged, it was off to Crofters Hotel in Cabus to talk to people about her books.
