Several young cyclists from Salt Ayre Cog Set Cycling Club have taken part in the North West Cyclo-Cross Association League Championships.

Cyclo-cross is a form of racing featuring wooded trails, steep hills, grass and obstacles where the rider is required to quickly dismount and carry their bike until it is safe enough to get back on.

The championships consisted of 14 stages around the North West.

Elliot Reed, under 16s, Ben Barlow, under 14s, and Sam Rutherford, under 10s, all had good runs but Salt Ayre had the most young riders in the under 12 category.

Evie Barrow came away with first place while Tilly Percy, Alfie Savage, Adam Hodgson, Aimee Hodgson, Ruarai Taylor-Smith, Joe Rutherford, Chris Barlow and Grace Attwood all also braved the mud, pouring rain and bitter cold.
