Young Rhys is star of future
COLT Rhys Ashton, seven and a half years old, novice category, Wirral Aquathlon.
LAST Sunday, February 5, the North West Junior Triathlon series began with the first event of the season held at the Oval Leisure Centre on the Wirral.
Making his debut for the COLTs in the novice category was Rhys Ashton. This category is for children aged between eight and 10-years-old by December of this year.
Rhys secured a second place despite being only seven and half years old.
Rhys’s role model is COLT’s Beau Smith, a national level triathlete, who will soon have young Rhys on his heels if this performance continues.
Also representing COLTs was Ffion Ashton who completed her first race in the Tristar 2 category that involved a 250m swim and 2km run.
Ffion was one of the youngest in the field but still secured a respectable ninth place.
