Heysham Atoms recorded their second impressive away victory in a row at Thatto Heath Crusaders on Saturday.

From the kick-off the visitors forced the pace and an early repeat set saw Liam Hall held up over the line but it was the hosts who got on the scoresheet first after seven minutes.

The St Helens side took a 6-0 lead after making the most of a kick that held up in the breeze and doubled their lead shortly after in similar fashion.

The start of the second period was a repeat of the first however as the hosts recorded back-to-back scores to regain the lead with both tries once again coming from kicks on the last tackle.

Chris Thomas hit back for the Atoms with a score in the left-hand corner after an offload out of the tackle from Collins.

Some slack defending from the visitors allowed Thatto to take their lead to 10 at 28-18 with 15 minutes left however.

The Atoms’ big guns then returned from the bench and it made the difference with Lacey leading by example.

He scored under the posts after an excellent dummy before the Atoms went back in front as loose forward Dan Helme benefited from a Livingstone break and offload.

The momentum was now all with the Heysham side and a Harrison break set up Collins to score before the centre added his second in the last play of the game.
