Lancaster Tennis Club’s juniors are top of table at the halfway stage of the season after a draw with a strong Hambleton side on Saturday.

The sides drew 3-3 in the Under 14s Fylde Junior Tennis League fixture played out in pouring rain at Lune Road on June 7.

Captain Dan Main was joined by Elliott Gardner and debutants Adam Hill and 10-year-old Jacob Orr in their bid to remain top of the league.

Dan started off on fire against a powerful Hambleton captain and soon took the first set.

Despite a good comeback, he held his nerve to win the top match in straight sets.

Elliott, playing at number two for the first time, made a slow start but soon mastered his opponent and won the match in three sets.

Sadly, Lancaster lost both doubles matches and young Jacob lost in straight sets to an experienced opponent despite playing really well.

Adam clinched the important win in straight sets to gain a valuable 3-3 draw against the strongest team seen at Lune Road this season.

The youngsters host Wrea Green next week.
