Lancaster Tennis Club’s Under 14 are just two matches from the Fylde League title in their first ever season in the competition.
The squad of four 13-year-olds, Dan Main and Reuben Orr from Ripley St Thomas Academy, Elliot Gardner from Carnforth High School and Adam Hill who attends Lancaster Royal Grammar School, continued their march towards the championship with victories over Moorland Under 14s on Saturday, June 28, and Lytham seven days later on July 5.
The boys produced high quality performances in both their singles and doubles matches with a 6-0 victory over their opponents at Moorlands having only won four of six against the same opposition in May.
Away at Lytham, the boys won 4-2 overall against some of the strongest opposition they have faced so far this season.
With just two matches left, the Under 14s know if they keep their form they’ll be champions in what would be an excellent achievement.
Hambleton, currently second, host Lancaster on the final day of the season in what looks set to be a title decider on July 19.
