The Torrisholme Primary School team of Bradley Wilkinson, Will Silverwood, Lucas Pinnington and Matthew Westworth made a winning debut in the Lancashire Schools championships held in Blackburn on Saturday.

They met Great Wood in the final which they won 5-3 and now represent the County in the North West Zone finals where they will meet teams from Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Cheshire.

Ripley School had to win through a fantastic semi-final against the other local team from Morecambe CHS in the u/16 event.

Thomas Gorst, Hudson Nuttall, Tommy Kennedy and James Main won 5-3 against Matthew Cooker. Adam Ordenez, Harry Waddington and Ed Shawcross and progressed to the final. Ripley lost to a strong St.Bedes team in the final where Kennedy and Nuttall played well.

LGGS won the u/16 team event when Sruthi Rajakaier, Emily Sou, Megan and Alice Dillon came out on top of the four team “round robin” tournament.

In the Premier Division of the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis league, Dragons were beaten by the Garstang youngsters who move into second place in the league.

Emily Bolton, Kelly Southward and Luke McGrath were too strong and fast for the mature Dragon trio of Derek Metcalf Dudley Jackson and Dan Welbourne.

The home team won 26-10.
