SKERTON ABC boxers were again busy this weekend with three fighters competing in a show in Carlisle on Friday night.
Shane Lee was making his competitive debut for the club and showed the competitive fighting spirit that is bred into all Skerton boxers by taking the fight to his opponent from the first bell.
Shane showed experience beyond his years and out-boxed his opponent for the full three rounds, getting a deserved decision at the end of the bout.
John Scarfe was next up to step into the ring for Skerton, again John was making his debut for the club and was openly nervous.
But again John soon overcame the nerves to showcase his tight defence and fast hand speed to flummox his opponent.
In the third round John used his superior footwork to claim a much deserved victory.
Next to step through the ropes was Andy Evans, again making his debut for the club.
Andy showed no nerves at all and from the first bell showed no mercy to his opponent, catching him with heavy blows to the head and body throughout the round.
In the second round the relentless Evans continued to outclass his opponent and on several occasions the referee looked like he was ready to step in to call off the punishment.
However, credit to his opponent, he managed to come out for the third round but was straight away under huge amounts of pressure, only the fact of him getting on his back foot and out of danger did he manage to get to the final bell.
After an exhilarating display of boxing the decision was a unanimous points victory for Skerton ABC boxer Andy Evans.
