Children from Slyne-with-Hest St Luke’s school have done their own take on a great cup final tradition – recording a charity single ahead of their trip to Wembley.

More than 30 pupils from the school were at The Bay radio station on Thursday, May 2, recording their track “We’re On Our Way to Wembley!”.

The youngsters will take to the hallowed turf for the Npower Kids’ Cup final on May 18 ahead of the League 2 play-off final.

The single will be released on CD with all proceeds going to Carnforth charity Unique Kidz which supports disabled children.

St Luke’s deputy head David Atkinson said: “Everyone at St Luke’s is really excited by the Wembley experience.

“It has been non-stop since we won at Bradford in the North of England Final.

“The team are going down to London the day before the final and then family and friends are coming down on the day we play to cheer the team on.

“It was great to be asked by The Bay to record a charity single and we are able to involve the whole class, and raise money for charity.”

The school are representing Morecambe in the npower Football League Kids’ Cup final having triumphed against school teams from across the country who were also representing other League 2 clubs.

The youngsters have already received a special coaching session from former England football star and current ITV pundit Gareth Southgate as part of their experience.
