Runners brave Glasson Dock half marathon

Two Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club athletes took part in the second Grizzly Glasson Dock Half Marathon.

The race treated its participants to 13.1 miles of mud, water and obstacles, including a crawl through two water-filled tunnels.

Despite all this, the runners enjoyed the experience and survived a tough race with Calvin Routledge running strongly to finish fourth overall in one hour 39 minutes and 14 seconds.

The other Lancaster and Morecambe athlete Bill Gardner finished 18th in 2h.12.27.

Elswhere, there were a number of Lancaster athletes at the Stanley Park 10km race in Blackpool.

The first runner back for the club was Phil Lowery who had a super run of 36 minutes and five seconds to finish 16th and first veteran 50.

In next was David Wilkinson with a good run of 44m.38, followed by Russell Wareing in 47m.27 and Charlie Satterly in 47m.53.

First female for Lancaster was Carole Wilkinson with a fine effort of 52m.07.
