Round-up: Westmorland Cricket League

Top beat bottom in the Westmorland League Division One on Saturday as Arnside saw off Bare.

John Moller took five for 40 as Arnside made 191-8 batting first, Alex Davidson scoring an unbeaten 76.

Bare were then skittled out for 108 as Lee’s six for 33 helped the league leaders pick up another 15 points.

Second in the table Milnthorpe kept up the pressure at the top with a four-run win over Heysham.

The hosts posted 161-5 batting first with Phil Bovis making 77 not out.

In reply Heysham came up just short, finishing on 157-7.

Reigning champions Westgate were 15 point winners over Shireshead.

The visitors made 153 all out batting first and then dismissed the hosts for just 120 for a 33-run win, Danny Wilkinson taking five for 63.

Warton chased down 162 to pick up 12 points against fourth-placed Burneside with J Brown making 65.

Burneside had D Batty’s 90 out out to thank for them setting a competitive total but hosts Warton ran out six-wicket winners.

Struggling Trimpell came away with a losing draw in a high-scoring game against Windermere.

The Cumbrian hosts posted 233-4 batting first, J Crawford scoring an unbeaten 107 and M Lewthwaite making 82 not out.

And second from bottom Trimpell made a good fist of their reply, finishing on 216-4 to pick up four points to Windermere’s seven.

Stuart Mayor made 76 and M Baldwin 53 not out.

Mid-table Bolton-le-Sands picked up 15 points against Silverdale.

Visiting Sands were dismissed for 132, S Letcher taking five for 39. Adam Dyson then bowled his side to victory, his six for 26 helping skittle out Silverdale for 65.

In division two, Westgate A were skittled out for just 85 against Shireshead.

The visitors raced to their winning target in just the 22nd over for the loss of just one wicket.

In division four, Carnforth cemented their place at the top with another win, this time against Shireshead.

Mark Bradley took six for 18 as the hosts were dismissed for 88 and the table toppers knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket Jordan Relph finishing 60 not out.
