City of Manchester took the title with a 17-11 win over Cheltenham.

After a 6-6 first quarter the exclusion of Alex Parsonage didn’t help the Salt Ayre side who trailed 12-9 at the break.

Lancaster never found a way back into the game as a disappointing second half saw Cheltenham seal their place in the final.

The city’s nine-time champions started their third-place play-off well, two goals from Curwen and strikes from Abbott, Scott Sharpe and Glen Robinson helping them to a 5-4 lead.

Keeping their one-goal advantage into the interval the teams continued to be evenly matched in the second half going goal for goal with the game ending 19-19.

Lancaster missed two of their penalties as Bristol took bronze and the young city side headed back north disappointed.
