Hopson treble sees of Rangers

Saddleworth started well and scored early to make it 4-0 but the Atoms replied with two tries of their own from Tony Statter and Harry Hopson, Henry Connolly added one conversion for the Atoms to have a deserved 10-4 lead at half time.

Saddleworth levelled the score in the second half with a converted try but once again the Atoms came back and their pressure told with two more tries from Harry Hopson and another conversion from Henry Connolly to clinch the win 20-10.

lHeysham Atoms U9s recorded a 10-7 win over Rochdale Cobras as Josiah Helme helped himself to an early five minute hat-trick.

Becca Tudhope and Sam Wheeler continued their consistent output with surging forward runs, helping Ciaron Fell to a try.

Rochdale regrouped and soon clawed back the deficit to level at 4-4 but the Atoms responded brilliantly with Josiah contributing another brace before Billy Taylor pounced on a loose ball to go over in the corner.

Heysham again showed resilience late on and an inspired Taylor, together with another all round masterclass from Hayden Davies gave them breathing space and they saw out the game 10-7.
