A British heavyweight superfight between Tyson Fury and David Price is still a long way off according to the Morecambe man’s trainer and uncle.

Peter Fury took to Twitter to clarify his man’s situation amid reports that the British Boxing Board of Control have said Fury must face Price for the Liverpool fighter’s British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles by the end of March.

Peter said Tyson was further along in his career and any victory over the former Olympic Bronze medalist would be diluted because “boxing people know Price isn’t ready”.

“Where price is now Tysons long since past that position in his career,” he tweeted.

“He’s no 3 and on the world scene. Next year Tysons going for a world title. And mixing with the best out their.

“Price has not turned up his game with the poor opponents faced. He’s yet to fight on the world platform.

“If that fight happend now between These 2 It’s too soon as real Boxing people know price isn’t ready.

“The win for Tyson if he won would be very diluted with what I’m saying.

“I for one prey Price comes through his tests to come as of Tyson And then we got a mega fight between 2 uk HWs. This fight in a year is a 80 thousand sell out pay per view. Now it’s in single figures.”

Following Tyson’s dominant points victory over former world title contender Kevin Johnson at the beginning of December the Morecambe man’s camp announced he was going to make his US debut at Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s Day next year.

The WBO intercontinental champion vacated his British and Commonwealth titles instead of facing mandatory challenger Price in February this year and a war words has waged between the two camps ever since.
