Athletics: Michael runs well to come home at a Canter

Three Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners took part in the Catforth Canter 5km race.

Michael Roy was first back for the club, running well in 19m.54 to finish 21st.

Not far behind was Jayne Perry who ran 20m.15 to finish second woman and first veteran 35.

Also claiming first in her category was Louise Goddard, with a fine effort of 21m.59 giving her first veteran 45.

A good number of club athletes turned out at the 20 Barriers 5-mile off-road race in Carnforth.

Leading the way was Lauren Gora, making light work of the terrain to finish well up the field in 49th out of just over 200 runners, in 40m.18.

In next was David Wilkinson in 45m.10, followed by Emily Stapleton in 46m.53 and Carole Wilkinson in 51m.15.

Other finishers: Lisa Preston 55m.34, Nigel Beeson 56m.07 and Linda Stapleton 61m.52.

lThe popular Lancaster 10k road race is onWednesday, July 20 at 7.30 pm from the clubhouse next to Salt Ayre.
