Lancaster City remained unbeaten in 2013 thanks to three second-half goals at Ossett Albion on Saturday.

The Dolly Blues swept aside the struggling Yorkshire side to make it three wins in their last four Evo-Stik First Division North games.

Afte a poor first-half from both teams, Neil Wainwright and Michael Stringfellow’s side moved through the gears after the break to ease to victory at the Warehouse Systems Stadium.

First Darren Green headed home from close range to put his side in front before City thought they had doubled their lead when Lee Dodgson curled a free-kick into the back of the net, only to see it ruled out by the referee’s assistant, much to the confusion of both sides.

It didn’t long for the visitors to go further in front however, Aodhan Brownlee turning skipper Neil Marshall’s centre into his own net.

Victory was confirmed when former Morecambe striker Aaron Taylor got his first Dolly Blues goal, heading home Ryan Winder’s cross to make it 3-0.

City’s fine run has seen them move up to 10th in the table quietly putting themselves into play-off contention.

In a fixture quirk, the Dolly Blues’ next match is at home to Ossett Albion this Saturday at Giant Axe.
