IF you want to enter next month’s Morecambe Rally you’d better be quick, as the entry list is filling up fast.
That’s the message from clerk-of-the-course Ashley Hodge, who is in charge of organising this year’s event.
Hodge, who took a year out in 2010, is back at the helm and is promising a rally to remember.
He said: “The entry has been capped at 40 to ensure the whites (unmade roads) remain in good condition for the later crews, so entries are purely on a first come first served basis.
“We are also retaining the pre-plot format that has worked so well in previous years, but there’ll be even more whites, which are made up of broken concrete, gravel, mud, grass and or cow dung.
“Unfortunately, we won’t be using Gisburn Forest this year because of the high costs involved, however, we will be giving you even more off-road mileage than before and the event will be more compact.
“Mitchell’s of Lancaster are back as our main sponsor and we have retained our other regular sponsors due to the success of the event and the excellent coverage they receive.
“Both Morecambe Car Club and myself are looking forward to this event and if you can join us as a competitor or coming along to help with the marshalling – we can promise you a cracking night’s sport.”
