Leaders Shireshead & Forton and defending champions Arnside had to settle for six points each after rain brought a premature halt to their Westmorland Cricket League Division One clash on Saturday.

The hosts had no hesitation in asking Arnside to bat at Clifton Park in a game that had been reduced to 40 overs per side.

James Rafferty (3-50) and Danny Wilkinson beat the bat regularly but Adrian Lee (58) bravely held the Arnside innings together until he fell with the score at 102-6.

Uzair Shah (2-26) and Peter Wilson (3-29) offered no respite and, after another brief shower, Arnside declared at 136-9 after 39 overs to ensure a 39 overs per side game.

However it proved immaterial as a thunder storm then ended proceedings for the day.
