Lee Hodkinson narrowly missed out on a maiden century for Carnforth in their 162-run win over Bare A at Lodge Quarry on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss and put Lee Potter’s side into bat with Hodkinson sent into open the batting as the home side looked for a fast start with showers forecast.
He lost opening partner Glenn Russell (13) and then Neil Dugdale (16) but along with Potter increased the tempo with some lusty blows.
Hodkinson looked set for a ton but was bowled for 98 in an innings that included eight fours and four sixes.
Potter reached his 50 in 45 balls with Jordan Relph chipping in with 17 from just six balls as the skipper was able to declare after 33 overs.
Steve Rawes (3-66) and Moses John (2-62) were the pick of the Bare bowlers.
In reply, John Leamon (21 from 118 balls) and Adrian Osmotherley (18 from 62 balls) showed great resistance as Bare nearly hung on but Alex Benson (4-12) and Ryan Kitchen (3-22) did the damage for Carnforth to bowl out the visitors for 74.
